Luis Zelaya-Lainez

Luis Zelaya-Lainez is the Head of the Laboratory for Mechanics of Materials (MMLAB) at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) in Austria and a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Mechanics of Materials and Structures at TU Wien. He holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Micromechanics and a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering, both from TU Wien. Additionally, he earned a Master’s in Nuclear Engineering from Valencia Polytechnic University (UPV) in Spain and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on the mechanical performance of wood-based biocomposites as sustainable materials for green building applications. Specifically, he explores the development of macroscopic load-bearing structures from sawmill byproducts using a multimethod, multiscale approach.
