Jori Ringman has knowledge and experience in economics (University of Helsinki) and business management (Helsinki School of Economics) and has extensive experience in communications, public administration and politics. He also holds an MSc in Environmental Decision Making (Open University, Milton Keynes).

From March to September 2016, he was temporarily acting as Managing Director of the Confederation of European Paper Industry (CEPI). Following his work as Deputy Director-General and CEPI Sustainability Director, he was appointed Director-General on 17 June 2019. His areas of expertise are the protection of the environment and consumers, with particular emphasis on packaging and food contact.

Prior to joining CEPI in February 2005, he was a European Commission civil servant and political adviser to the European Parliament.
