Michal Ďurovič studied from 1979 to 1983 at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague (field of Polymer Production and Processing Technology, Laboratory of Chemistry of Art Restoration), in 1995 he defended his dissertation and in 2013 he habilitated at the same university. Since 1983 he has worked as a technologist in the restoration department of the National Library and since 1989 he worked in the National Archives in Prague as a researcher (since 1995 as head of the Department of Care for the Physical State of Archival Records). In 2014, he became the head of the Institute of Chemical Technology for the restoration of the ICT in Prague. He has long been engaged in scientific research in the field of conservation-restoration of paper documents, leather, parchment, and photographic materials. He has led or co-investigated a number of research projects (eg Mass deacidification of paper archival materials, Influence of light and ultraviolet radiation on archival documents, Protection of archival materials against natural disasters in the Czech Republic’s archives network) and cinematographic materials in archival collections and methods of their disinfection, etc.). He is the author or co-author of a number of works in the field of conservation-restoration of archive materials. Among the most important publishing activities is the publication of the book Restoration and Conservation of Archives and Books by Paseka in 2002. He is a member of the Scientific Councils of the Faculty of Chemical Technology, University of Pardubice, National Library of the Czech Republic, National Archives, Ministry of the Interior. He was a member of the International Council on Archives and the European Working Group on Disaster Prevention. In 2006, he participated in the training of Iraqi restorers in Iraqi Irbil and the construction of a restoration site for the Iraqi National Library and Archive in Baghdad. In 2004 and 2010 he lectured and trained Peruvian restorers in Lima.
